Titan Italia's Idlers and Brakes Division manufactures customised high specification braking systems for tractors and other off road / high torque vehicles. Controlled braking control for these vehicles is paramount and Titan develops technologies that enhance vehicle safety and integrate perfectly across a wide range of applications and power ratings. The current Titan range of brake systems incorporates ramp brakes 4” through to 9.5”, both dry and wet types, for vehicles with maximum power of 300HP and weight of 16000kg, capable of reaching speeds in excess of 50km/hr. Applications of these type of brakes on vehicles with even higher power rating and weight are available.

Titan provides a complete service of design and development, from the initial brake concepts, engineering support, through to the layout of the brake housing assembly. Many customers rely on Titan's specialist engineering knowledge and experience to form the basis of the design of components.

Development of new products is supported by Titan's testing department which is equipped with facilities for both rig and vehicle tests. Prototypes are specifically rig tested to identify the best combination of brake and housing configuration, to optimise heat dissipation and to provide the best brake performance and reliability. These test results are complemented by pre-production fatigue testing to establish brake life. Finally, for wet brakes, the best combination of brake friction material and transmission oil is obtained and this ensures that the design performance is achieved avoiding other performance problems such as noise and vibrations.
